Valencia will be the prior to the last meeting of the World Series by Nissan, and will host the Final Round of the World Series Light and the Spanish Formula Junior Championship.
Barcelona, 05 October 2004 - Valencia looks to be very decisive for the Finn driver Heikki Kovalainen (Pons Racing), which is set to be reigning in the World Series by Nissan 2004, as he only has to score three points to get the Tittle and proceed with the history of Ricardo Zonta and Franck Montagny.
Four drivers are still in the bid for the vice-championship: Tiago Monteiro (Carlin Motorsport), Enrique Bernoldi (GD Racing), JC Ravier (Epsilon Euskadi) and Tristan Gommendy (Saulnier Racing)
World Series drivers Felix Porteiro, Adrian Valles and Sergio Hernandez, are considering this Event as their home race and are particulary very optimistic. Felix Porteiro achieved in Barcelona his first ever World Series victory in his debut with the Team Epsilon Euskadi. Adrian Valles completed a very successful weekend achieving the second place in Race 2 and stabilising a new lap record in the Circuit.
In Valencia, the Series may see the debut of Santiago Porteiro (former F Nissan Champion) and it is now confirmed that the Indian Karum Chandok will race for RC Motorsport in replacement of Tomas Kostka
Furthermore, this Event will see the Final Rounds of the World Series Light. Milos Pavlovic was already crowned in Barcelona and he is keen to invest his prize money (180.000 Euros) in his future step, the World Series by Renault. But the second place stills open to three different and very competitive drivers: the Spaniard Celso Miguez, the Italian Matteo Pellegrino and the French Simon Abadie.
The Circuit of Valencia has already host the WS in this Season. The meeting disputed in June saw Kovalainen and Ravier sharing the podiums while Gommendy and Porteiro switched 3rd positions. The official Lap Record is still in possession of Ricardo Zonta, 1.23.570.
Jerez is confirmed for the Final Round of the World Series
The World Series by Nissan Final Round will be disputed in Jerez the next 7th of November. This Meeting is scheduled in replacement of the race in Zhuhai (China)
