Justin Wilson takes first win in World Series!

Racing Engineering's Justin Wilson is able to take the win from Ricardo Zonta on the second race of the Valencia meeting of the World Series. After a couple of pole positions in the former meetings and today's second place start behind Zonta, Justin was able to have a blinding start and overtake Zonta before the first corner and kept the lead from start to finish. This race weekend is completed by Justin's third position in the first race.

Franck Montagny had to face a tough weekend. Not only did he suffer from a start accident caused by Leinders but had to face problems with the set up of his car during the whole race weekend. Franck finished the first race in seventh position, the second one in fifth.

Race 1:
Racing Engineering's drivers Justin Wilson and Franck Montagny started into the first race from sixth and seventh position. Both had very good starts, already making up several positions on the first meters. Justin left the first corner in third position, which he could hold until the end of the race.

Franck, going into the first corner of the race on the outside, was pushed towards the pit wall and hit by Leinders. This dangerous incident caused Franck to spin, but luckily he could continue the race in tenth position. Although Franck's car had been severely damaged and it was hard for him to continue, he finished the first race in seventh position.

Race 2:
Justin started into the second race from second position right behind Zonta. An amazing start brought Justin into the lead before the first corner. Zonta who was close to Justin during the entire race, never made any attempt to overtake Justin. When Justin came into the pits for the obligatory tire change Racing Engineering's mechanics made a very fast pit stop and Justin could once again leave the pits leading. With this start to finish victory Justin proved his outstanding talent and the entire Racing Engineering team is very happy he has reached the top step of the podium.

Franck had a good start into the second race and gained two positions. After an early tire change he came back on to the track in front of Leinders, who later during the race had to retire. Franck finished the second race in fifth position.

After his first victory in the World Series Justin Wilson stated," During the first race I saw something happening here I have never seen before." The safety car has been out for only one lap and right when it went in the lights have been turned off. Therefore I am not only happy about the first race, which I finished third but also disappointed as in the first corner after the safety car I had to defend my position. In the second race I had a good start. During the race I was pushing hard. My team did a good job during the whole weekend and I will keep on pushing. I am looking forward to the next two races."

Franck, after the two races announced,"I am not happy but also not disappointed. Well, there was the incident at the start, but I could finish both races ahead of Leinders and that's positive. We have to keep the team championship and we are still leading. It's very important that we win at least this one. The team did a good job and gets better at every race. Everybody within Racing Engineering has improved, but so do the others."
