Walter Grubmuller Jr. and Daniil Move have been announced as P1 Motorsport's driver line-up for the 2011 Formula Renault 3.5 Championship.
Both drivers are returning to the series and the team Russian racer Move having driven for P1 Motorsport in 2009, and Austria's Grubmuller Jr. retaining his 2010 seat for the coming season.
P1's Technical Director, Roly Vincini, is looking forward to welcoming them back: "Walter made his debut in the FR 3.5 series with us last year, and it's great to have the opportunity to build on the progress we made throughout the 2010 season. The experience Walter has gained over the past twelve months should see him be competitive as this year evolves.
"Daniil had a difficult season last year, after leaving P1 Motorsport to join Junior Lotus Racing. When he raced with us in 2009, Daniil achieved some strong qualifying results and podium positions, and I've every confidence that we can surpass this in 2011."
P1 Motorsport has competed in Formula Renault 3.5 since 2007 with great success. In 2008, the Norfolk-based team helped propel Dutchman Giedo Van der Garde to the driver's title, in a year that saw P1 take third position in the team's championship. In 2009, the team reached the top step of the podium with British driver James Walker, and again managed to secure third position in the overall standings. Last year, though the team did not make it onto the podium, P1 managed to guide rookie drivers Grubmuller Jr. and Jan Charouz to 16th and 18th in the driver's standings respectively.
Grubmuller Jr. spoke about the announcement: "I'm looking forward to the season and challenge, and the aim is to dramatically improve on last year's results, and fight for the top positions. It is great to be returning to the grid with P1 as they are familiar - I've worked with Roly and the team for a year now, and that's definitely an advantage."
Move added: "I'm very happy to be working with P1 Motorsport again. I cannot wait to jump into the car and begin testing for the season ahead I know with the right preparation we can be competitive and I'm hoping for a strong year."
The 2011 Formula Renault 3.5 season gets underway, at Motorland Aragon in Spain, on 16 and 17 April.
