It wasn`t a good weekend in the World Series by Nissan for the Argentinian driver Nicolás Filiberti (Zele Motorsport), who came to this fifth round in Magny Cours after score points in almost all the races of the season. But the french air doesn`t felt well to his Dallara Nissan.
In the first competition Filiberti started from the tenth line because to a problem in his brakes during the qualify session. After the sixth lap and when he was 14º, an hydraulic failure in his car made him lost positions until quit the race in lap nine.
For the second race, Nicolás started seventeenth. He could passed an accident that put him in the back in the firsts laps. After the obligatory tyre change, the engine started to fail. Because of this inconvenient he only could finish sixteenth a lap behind the winner, the french Frank Montagny, Racing Engineerins team.
Ricardo Zonta (Gabord Competition) dominated with authority from the start to the chequered flag. This is the fifth victory for Zonta, who couldn`t win since the third race in Jarama. The brazilian driver took advantage from his pole position and after a good start he kept the leadership until the end.
The belgian Bas Leinders (KTR) finished second close the winner Zonta but without present any fight for the ex-F1. Franck Montagny (Racing engineering) finished third followed by his teammate Justin Wilson. The ex F3000 driver Jonathan Cochet make his debut in the series with a promising sixth place.
The first lap and the pit stop were very important in the final result of this second competition. Zonta took the leadership after passed Montagny in the first curve. Before conclude the first lap, Justin Wilson went out the track with Bas Leinders, both lost importants points for the championship and left the third position for Antonio García (Campos Motorsport). Zonta, Montagny and García entered to pits in the same lap, but the french was the quicker in the change tyre which gave him the chance to take the first position and win in his country, in spite of the resistence presented by Zonta in the end
Ricardo Zonta: ¨It was a very positive weekend. In the second race, after the pit stop I lost the first place. The final laps were very exciting and that is very pretty for the championship and the spectators¨.
Franck Montagny: ¨I would like to congratulate my team.
