The World Series by Nissan cars have arrived at Catalunya for their second pre-season collective test. It has not been an easy week at all in Spain. Last Wednesday when the test finished at Jarama, nobody could have imagined that the day after, the city of Madrid would be struck by the horror of terrorism. Everybody in the Paddock is terribly shocked, but life must go on--

Narain Kartikheyan was the fastest driver in Barcelona, lapping in 1.31.652 (185.7 km/h), and destroying the former circuit lap record set by Bas Leinders (1.32.629) in 2002. Although the Circuit has already opened its new turn in the Stadium area, some work ahead of the forthcoming F1 G.P. have prevented our drivers from testing it out.

In the morning session, Adrian Valles (Pons Racing) and Enrique Bernoldi (GD Racing) followed the Indian ace in the times, with Jouanny and Gommendy in 4th and 5th positions.

The morning session was stopped several times due to some "visits" to the gravel, like Rusinov's in the stadium. The Russian's car lost its front wing but the driver was unhurt.

The Epsilon Euskadi Team was all ready to test in Barcelona. The whole Team has recently moved to the Basque Country (in the north of Spain). Both cars had a mechanical problem and they could only complete a few laps in the first session. Jean Cristophe Ravier set the fastest lap in 1.31.788, proving that the work is going in the right direction. The rain ruined the rest of the session leaving Fukuda and Vilariño one second behind Ravier. 30 minutes before the end, some drivers decide to try their wet tyres on and completed a few laps.

The test will continue tomorrow in Barcelona. <pre> Best Registered Laps 1. Narain Kartikheyan RC Motorport 1.31.652 2. Jean Cristophe Ravier Epsilon Euskadi 1.31.788 3.
