Jan Charouz starred at Sunday's race but finished without points

Jan Charouz's performance and moves during the Sunday's race were one of the highlights after the Formula Renault 3.5 at Brno. The Czech driver was often in the spotlight of the cameras and spectators. However, pitstop delay denied a good result. Walter Grubmueller jun., the second P1 Motorsport driver, was fourth under the flag on Sunday.

The P1 Motorsport drivers set 6th and 8th time in the qualifying for the Sunday's race which put the into the third and fourth row on the grid. The race was affected by collisions of four car and safety car had to be deployed until the end of lap 4.

Jan Charouz showed a great overtaking move after the restart in the Stadium section and got two positions over Ricciardo and Grubmueller. Charouz went to the pits after lap 8 for the mandatory stop including change of two tyres. The mechanics did not made a clear stop and the Czech spent approximately six seconds more than his rivals.

The pitstop window closed with lap 14 and Charouz was 11th. He put in a brave move on Aleshin and moved to a point scoring position. Later on he caught Mansell and got by as well. He put big pressure on Panciatici and mounted a last lap attack. The French driver held on while the P1 Motorsport driver was overtook by Aleshin and Costa and finished just outside points..

The P1 Motorsport crew make slick pitstop with Walter Grubmueller and the Austrian jumped to fourth thanks to a quick stop. He tried several moves on third placed Salaquarda but shift focus to defensive mode for last laps to keep fourth place overall and second best in the rookies.

Jan Charouz, P1 Motorsport: "I did all what I could out there. I overtook quite a few competitors, unfortunately out pitstop was a bad one. The sharp end of the Formula Renault 3.5 is very close and several seconds during the stop makes big difference. I am very sorry that I did not manage to please more home fans, they came again in bug numbers. I was ahead of Walter before the stops and you can see where he finished and where I finished but that is racing. We all know ehre we need to improve. The most important is to learn from mistakes."

Walter Grubmueller jun., P1 Motorsport driver: "I was fourth after the pitstops and had Ricciardo and Hartley just behind. My prime focus from lap 14 till the end was to keep the right line. I managed to keep them behind till the flag which is very pleasing. I am very happy with today's result and want to thank the whole P1 Motorsport team. I hope we will continue like this in the next round in France."
