Edoardo Piscopo announces 2009 Formula 2 assault

After a long winter away from the track, Edoardo Piscopo finalized his racing plans by entering the 2009 Formula 2 Championship. Sanctioned by FIA and managed by Jonathan Palmer, the series will feature 24 among the best racing prospects around Europe. Earlier this week, Edoardo had his first taste of the series' Williams JPH1 at Snetterton. The car, powered by a 1.8450-hp Audi engine, proved to have a huge potential, despite some expected issues due to young age. After entering the Formula 3 Euro Series, the Italian F.3 Championship and the A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Edoardo is eager to get back racing, and is focusing on his season debut set for May 30 and 31 at Valencia.

EDOARDO PISCOPO

"I'm really glad for having finalized my entry in the 2009 Formula 2 Championship. The overall competitive level is incredibly high, even beyond my expectations. The car is compact, but really powerful too: it's both fun and demanding to drive. The toughest part are brakes, while I had a great feeling from the steering, which is close to Formula One. We encountered some technical issues at Snetterton, but I think it's normal since it was the first collective test. In the morning session I managed to run consistently, while in the afternoon some issues started to arise. I'm confident problems will be solved though, and that the debut at Valencia will prove to be a success. I'm also sure that the Formula 2 winner will have a lot of career opportunities".
