While some teams have given their full support to, or at least have not argued with, the FIA's regulation changes, Williams is less enthusiatic than others. The team issued a statement saying any comment on the changes made yesterday would have to wait until the points were clarified by tomorrow's meeting of the Technical Working Group.

Middle of the grid teams such as Jordan, Renualt and BAR have expressed agreement with the FIA and are happy with the changes. However, Williams is the first of the top three teams to comment: Ferrari have so far been silent and McLaren boss Ron Dennis reportedly left yesterday's meeting with a terse 'no comment'. Williams was non-committal in its comments:

"Following yesterday's meeting between the FIA and team principals, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team is currently assessing the proposals presented," the statement read. "The majority of the proposals will be further clarified by a Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting tomorrow. It is therefore not possible to offer a full response until this meeting has taken place."

"In the interim, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team acknowledges the need in principle for substantive measures to ensure the continued viability of Formula One. The BMW WilliamsF1 Team awaits the outcome of the forthcoming TWG meeting and the clarification that this will provide."
