Rubens Barrichello returned to the cockpit for his second day of running at Valencia today. With temperatures averaging the 11o.C mark, Rubens started the session with more set-up work and systems checks before completing a series of long runs in the afternoon. Joined on track by Massa in the Ferrari, Kobayashi in the BMW Sauber, Hamilton in the McLaren, Kubica in the Renault, Rosberg in the Mercedes and Buemi in the Toro Rosso, Rubens set the sixth fastest time of the day with a 1:13.377. The fastest time of the day was set by Massa, 1:11.722.
Nico will take over testing duties tomorrow for his first test as a Formula One race driver.
Sam Michael, Technical Director:
Today we spent the session doing some long runs and more set-up work on the new Bridgestone tyres. We had some minor electronic problems, but it was generally a good session for us. Rubens has now completed his two day stint so we are now working on setting up the car ahead of Nico's first day tomorrow.
It was a good two days for us. We've improved the car a lot over that time by playing with the set-up and we've neutralised the understeer we had yesterday. There's obviously still lots to learn because the cars are very different to last year, but I'm reasonably happy with how we're doing so far. You can't conclude much from this test in terms of where everyone is because the fuel cell has such a wide range, and I think it will continue to be that way until we get to the first race when everyone will be on low fuel. Until that time, we will have to work hard and do our homework.
