Three teams took part in today's test session in Spain where Williams' test drivers Antonia Pizzonia and Marc Gene led the times at the Valencia circuit. In clear dry conditions Pizzonia set a 1:12.850, completing over 80 laps, 0.3 seconds ahead of Gene.

Williams test team manager Tim Newton was happy with the day's work: "A useful day on the circuit," he said. "We achieved all the test objectives with tyre tests, engine mapping and some brake work."

Jarno Trulli was on track for Renault and was third quickest. The Italian worked on set-up, brake evaluation and tested new suspension. Technical director Mike Gascoyne said it was a productive day and Trulli will be joined by Renualt test driver Fernando Alonso tomorrow.

Jacques Villeneuve rounded off the times for BAR 0.8 seconds behind Trulli. The Canadian also compled more than 80 laps but bought the session to an end when he stopped on track bringing out the red flags.
