Minardi's Mark Webber is to test with Jaguar Racing at the end of this month fuelling more speculation about not only the Australian's future, but that of Jaguar driver Eddie Irvine. Renault test driver Fernando Alonso tested with Jaguar last month and now Webber, who has also been linked with Toyota, will get behind the wheel of a Jaguar in Spain.

"We can confirm that Mark Webber will be testing the Jaguar R3 in Barcelona on Friday, June 28," said Nav Sidhu, the team's public relations manager. "This one-day test is aimed at evaluating Mark and subsequently exploring our options for the 2003 season.

"We have not yet began official discussions with Eddie Irvine for next season and in the event that the two sides agree to part company, Mark's test is nothing more than a possible contingency option. This is a perfectly normal procedure and we are not looking to change our driver line-up for the remainder of this season."

Irvine's contract with Jaguar is up at the end of this year and the Irishman has said he would rather leave than suffer another year with an uncompetitive car. Spanish team mate Pedro de la Rosa is contracted for another season and it's more likely, should Irvine leave, that Jaguar would opt for Webber rather than Alonso as two drivers of the same nationality is not an ideal situation for a team.
