Jacques Villeneuve enjoyed a special and rather emotional drive on the weekend, when he got behind the wheel of his father's Ferrari 312 T3 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Gilles Villeneuve took his maiden F1 victory in the car at the 1978 Canadian Grand Prix.

"It was really great and very special, even if it was short. I never thought I would do this," said Jacques afterwards, who wore one of his father's helmet for the drive.

"It's something that you do once in a lifetime, and that's what it will remain. This run was like 'thank you and goodbye' to my Dad."

Many people hope it was not Jacques' last outing in a Formula One car. The Canadian, who was champion in 1997 with Williams, has been linked with a return to the team next season. However, he shrugged off the speculation.

"The phone call might come and I have to be ready," he said in regard to returning to F1, according to Reuters. "But I don't know what I'll be doing next year."
