The Jaguar Racing team completed more laps in the opening test session for the American Grand Prix at Indianapolis than any other team. Mark Webber and Justin Wilson, who set the fourth and fifth fastest times respectively, completed 104 laps between them in the two hour session.

"It's quite gratifying that the cars have run reliably enough to allow Mark and Justin to work away on the programme. We've done the usual work on tyre selection and fuel consumption to fine-tune our strategy for the coming sessions," said Mark Gillan, head of vehicle performance.

"The car is handling reasonably well but we're chasing the track even more than usual in that there is not much grip as it hasn't been used much. On top of that the track temperature is unusually low so grip is at a bit of a premium. How well you get around that is probably going to determine how well you go in qualifying later today."
