Toro Rosso in Bahrain tyre test

One of this year’s STR8 cars will be used with Jean-Eric Vergne driving for the first day and a half, before handing over the keys to Daniil Kvyat for the rest of the test.

Following a request from F1’s sole tyre supplier Pirelli to the FIA, the F1 Commission has changed its own rule banning testing until 2014 on safety grounds.

As a result Scuderia Toro Rosso will join a handful of other teams for a three day test at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain from 17 to 19 December.

One of this year’s STR8 cars will be used with Jean-Eric Vergne driving for the first day and a half, before handing over the keys to Daniil Kvyat for the rest of the test.

The test will provide a useful opportunity to evaluate next year’s tyres, especially as an opportunity to try one 2014 tyre type on Friday at this year’s Brazilian Grand Prix was wiped out by the rain.
