Jacques Villenueve's exclusive use of the spare car for race weekends is set to continue despite the addition of new team mate Jenson Button. Villenueve's existing contract with BAR includes the T-car clause and will carry through to 2003, although in future the agreement may change.

BAR team boss David Richards told the British press: "It's part of an existing agreement, Jacques has always demanded exclusive use of the spare car." He added that Button knew about the situation: "Jenson is aware of the spare car situation and knows it's only for one year." Villeneuve's contract with BAR has one more year to run.

There were rumours recently that Renault boss Flavio Briatore was blocking Button from testing with BAR as the former Renault driver is still contracted to the team until the end of this year. Briatore denied the claims, saying neither BAR or Button's manager had asked for the Englishman to be released from his contract.

BAR is due to run another three day test at Barcelona next week where Villeneuve is expected to put in an appearance. Button is also expected to take to the wheel for his new team on the 13th and 14th of December.
