Sir Jackie Stewart has dismissed suggestions that Ford have him in their sights to take over as team principal of Jaguar Racing. Stewart recently continued his deal as Director of Jaguar but denied he was to take over from Niki Lauda as boss. The former champion has held the position of Director since the team's appearance in 2000.

"I have renewed a contract and part of that is related to being on the board of Jaguar Racing and helping them with the commercial side," Stewart said "I am not involved in the day-to-day running of the team and never have been. In my opinion there can only be one boss, and that boss is Niki Lauda.'

Stewart previously owned Jaguar -- as Stewart Ford -- before the car giant took over. Since then Jaguar have been plagued by problems: aerodynamics and unreliability and the departure of key members have done nothing to give them a smoother ride. Lauda is the third principal the team have had in less than two years, the previous being Neil Ressler and Bobby Rahal.
