THE PRESIDENT'S CHALLENGE FORMULA ONE CHARITY LUNCHEON
Singapore - As part of Singapore's historic staging of the world's first Formula One night race, His Excellency, S R Nathan, President of the Republic of Singapore, will host the President's Challenge F1 Charity Luncheon on the lawns of the Istana on 26th September 2008.
The Istana is the official residence of the President where he receives and entertains state guests. The entire domain occupies over 100 acres and is located along the busy Orchard Road.
Past and present Formula One champions, international celebrities and distinguished guests will grace this one and only official event of the 2008 FORMULA 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix.
Says Mr Teo Hock Seng, chairman of Singapore GP Pte Ltd: "Hospitality events during our Grand Prix would come no grander than this President's Challenge charity luncheon, where the racing teams will put their rivalries aside and come together for a good cause.
"The atmosphere at the Istana is bound to be one of high anticipation and excitement, especially since it's on the eve of the Grand Prix weekend.''
Mr Bernie Ecclestone, the President and Chief Executive of Formula One Management, has sanctioned the luncheon as an official Formula One event for the current Formula One drivers and their team managers to attend.
Apart from the opportunity of meeting the drivers face to face, guests will also be able to take part in a silent auction of two limited edition Chopard watches -- a men's "Tourbillion" worth $250,000 and a ladies' "Happy Sport" worth $30,000 -- and other Formula One memorabilia.
Because the prestigious luncheon will be held on the lawns of the Istana, there will be only 30 tables, with 18 tables going for $30,000 each and 12 tables at $50,000 each.
Singapore GP Pte Ltd hopes to raise over S$1-million for President Nathan's on-going charity programme, the President's Challenge. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Challenge.
