Short assessments of the year each driver is having thus far

Monaco is over and now the real grind of the Formula One season starts. No one can touch Mercedes who seem to be running away with all the glory. 16 of the 22 drivers in the field have scored points, eight have earned podiums, but only two have claimed victory as Formula One heads to Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix.

Nico Rosberg: He took the fight back to Lewis at Monaco, but I doubt Nico will be able to match Hamilton's pace. He'll definitely fight hard to keep supremacy over his new rival but unless something unforeseen happens, he'll fail to hold Lewis back.

Lewis Hamilton: Overall, he seems to be stronger than Nico but he better not beat himself by letting his emotions supersede his ability. He may have lost the battle at Monaco, but if his lap hadn't been ruined by that now highly controversial local yellow, he may have actually gone on to win that race.

Fernando Alonso: I give him props for carrying that Ferrari but he better quit poking at Kimi with remarks like, “Usually, I beat my teammates,” because you're liable to conjure up some hidden speed in the Finn that way.

Daniel Ricciardo: The Aussie is avenging countryman Mark Webber with his superb performance in 2014 and if Mercedes falters in Canada, expect Ricciardo to be right there and ready to pounce.

Nico Hulkenberg: Keep doing what you're doing Nico and you'll get that top tier ride you so rightfully deserve.

Sebastian Vettel: He's a four-time World Champion and despite the car not cooperating with him, he shouldn't be running worse than his new teammate. Step it up champ and prove that those four titles weren't just the product of Red Bull engineering.

Valtteri Bottas: He has shown some impressive speed this year in the Williams and should collect another handful of points with a yet another solid run this weekend.

Jenson Button: I feel that the twilight of Button's career is upon us and we'll unfortunately see more so-so runs out of him until McLaren gets their ship righted.

Kevin Magnussen: The McLaren rookie has no expectations to live up to so I'm not about to criticize a rookie who has already procured a second place finish and sits just 10 points adrift of his World Championship winning teammate.

Sergio Perez: After getting a raw deal at McLaren, Checo is putting up some respectable numbers this season and if all goes well, he'll grab another point or two in Montreal.

Felipe Massa: It's been hit or miss for Massa this year and with Bottas sneaking away from him, it's time to have a head-turing weekend in order to fully secure the No. 1 status he desires so much. A seventh here and then a 15th there are not going to cut it.

Kimi Raikkonen: It seems like Kimi finally woke up at Monaco but bad luck hindered his final result. I'm thinking we'll see him give Alonso a run for his money again this weekend. His title hopes have been dashed, but Kimi is not about to throw up his hands and watch his teammate outdo him again and again and again.

Romain Grosjean: There's not much he can do with the current state of Lotus but finishing in the points would almost feel like a victory for this team with the year they are enduring.

Daniil Kvyat: The Russian has impressed a lot of people and will continue to do so with another finish inside the top ten this weekend.

Jean-Eric Vergne: Vergne has been disappointing compared to his teammate and with 45 Grand Prixs under his belt, he has no excuse for failing to run as good as Kvyat.

Jules Bianchi: He scored multiple points in a Marussia...Jules wins the world.

Esteban Gutierrez: The Sauber is performing as miserably as the Lotus right now, so i can't fault Esteban for such a dreadful season, but he doesn't seem to have the talent to do any more than his car will allow anyway.

Kamui Kobayashi: It's been a quiet season for the most part with Kamui, but he needs to start making some noise (for good reasons) if he wants to stick around Formula One much longer.

Marcus Ericcson: Marcus had a solid showing at Monaco, but attrition was a major factor in his final result. Seeing that he's in a Caterham and many felt he wasn't capable of competing in Formula One at the start of the year, he hasn't performed all that bad.

Max Chilton: Max has enjoyed a solid season thus far, placing inside the top 15 on four occasions. He's done an admirable job and he will keep it up as the year progresses.

Adrian Sutil: His story is basically the same as Esteban's. Sauber needs to fix their cars first, but they should also consider axing both of their drivers who seem incapable of taking their cars to a higher level regardless (except for when they go flying through the air).

Pastor Maldonado: Stop hitting stuff.
