Both the Williams and Jordan teams were in action at Silverstone yesterday (Tuesday 9th April)conducting private shakedown tests at various parts of the circuit.

Marc Gene was practicing starts for Williams along the National straight (between Becketts and Brooklands). The team set up a makeshift garage at one end of the straight and did a start every ten to twenty minutes early in the afternoon. The car was modified for straight line tests with the front wing raised slightly.

Jordan were running on the section of the circuit between Stowe and Vale, doing practice starts and engine tests. Access was restricted to this part of the circuit, so the driver could not be identified. Andrew Gilbert-Scott, manager of race driver Takuma Sato, usually conducts straight line tests for Jordan.

Teams are allowed to shakedown cars in the week of a Grand Prix as long as the distance per car covered does not exceed 50km.
Testing was suspended between 11.30am and 12.30pm due to the funeral of The Queen Mother in London.
