The Renault Williams FW14 in which Ayrton Senna suffered his fatal accident at Imola has been released by the Italian authorities and returned to the Williams team. In the eight years since the tragedy the car has been impounded while the investigation into Senna's death was bring carried out. Now the court proceedings have been concluded the car is no longer needed by investigators.

Williams officials Frank Williams, Patrick Head and Adrian Newey were acquitted of manslaughter charges in Novemeber1999 after a trial in Italy that took five years to conclude. Williams have issued no statement concerning the return of the car but it expected the FW14 will be stored in the team's factory at Grove, UK.
