Ferrari bosses have so far been cautious about whether the new F2002 will make its debut on the grid for the Australian Grand Prix on March 3rd. Driver Michael Schumacher, however, is more positive and after testing the car he is confident the F2002 will be ready.

"It's now 99 percent certain I'll race the F2002 in Melbourne," he said. "The F2002 should be faster (than the F2001) and I'm especially surprised at how reliable it is. There have been no problems up to now and we are confident about the future."

The team have yet to put the car through a full race simulation but Schumacher is happy that once that is done there will be no problem. Meanwhile, on the subject of whom Ferrari will be battling it out with on track for the 2002 title, the German tips McLaren and BMW Williams for the challenge -- but Williams have the edge as McLaren are untried on Michelin tyres.

"I note particularly BMW Williams, because it is not clear to me who in the long run that will be - Juan Pablo or Ralf. With McLaren we must wait while they gain experience with the Michelin tyres. Therefore I expect the main challenger to be from the team of BMW Williams, on whom we must probably concentrate."He commented.
