Fresh from taking fourth and fifth places in the Spanish GP, Team SAUBER PETRONAS began a three-day test here in Valencia in preparation for the Austrian and Monaco races. Felipe Massa, who will also drive tomorrow, completed 59 laps and set the third best time of 1m 13.461s.

Jacky Eeckelaert (Head of Vehicle Engineering):

"Our programme this week centres on mechanical and aerodynamic set-ups, mainly for Monaco. This entails a lot of comparative work. We are also particularly focusing on optimising our launch control and traction control systems. At the same time tomorrow, we will be also undertaking an intensive tyre development programme for the forthcoming races, in association with Bridgestone."

Felipe Massa:

"Today we spent quite a lot of time trying different mechanical set-ups on the car, and I was able to do 10 simulated racing starts to hone the launch control system. I like the Valencia track, and I'm looking forward to pushing hard again tomorrow as we continue our programme."
