Daniel Ricciardo has been slapped on the proverbial wrist after FP1 violation.
At the conclusion of the opening practice session in Montreal, the stewards decided to reprimand Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo.
According to the stewards, this action was taken because, "The driver of car three drove in a manner that was potentially dangerous to others in the pit lane." In layman's terms, he overtook the Lotus of Pastor Maldonado in the pit lane in a way that was deemed dangerous in the closing moments of the session.
The rule he was found in violation of states, “At no time may a car be driven unnecessarily slowly, erratically or in a manner which could be deemed potentially dangerous to other drivers or any other person. This will apply whether any such car is being driven on the track, the pit entry or the pit lane.”
This is Ricciardo's first reprimand of the 2014 Formula One season, so he will not be hit with a grid penalty or anything else that may impede his efforts this weekend.
