Retro F1 liveries. It's a passion thing.

Nostalgia in racing, especially F1, is a powerful thing.

What is it about nostalgia in motor racing? Passionate fans have such an emotional, almost visceral response to anything that reminds them of "the good old days" of racing. It seems every generation has its version of what those days were like.

Nobody can think of the #27 without thinking of Gilles Villeneuve. Or the the bright red and white Marlboro livery carried by so many star drivers at McLaren. Lotus became synonymous with the John Player Special scheme, arguably the most classic combination of colors ever in Formula One.
