Renger boosted by 'great weekend'
Renger van der Zande was left feeling upbeat after finishing thirteenth in Sunday’s DTM race at Zandvoort.
The Dutchman started well, but an unknown problem with the car meant that he subsequently lost some valuable race pace. Nevertheless, the Mercedes driver put in a very respectable performance for the home crowd.
"I had a super start and overtook two men," van der Zande began. "I had good pace early on, but during the pit stops something happened, causing me to lose a lot of speed, especially in Turn 3. What it was we do not know, but we fell back because of it. But with our good speed during the race we showed that we are making serious headway."
"It was an amazing experience to be able to race DTM cars here. I really enjoyed the support of the home fans, I have to say thank you."
