Yesterday saw the Mild Seven Renault F1 Team complete three days of winter testing at the Valencia circuit in Spain. The Team ran two R23 chassis, with Fernando Alonso and Allan McNish at the wheel.

Fernando's programme centred around tyre evaluation on behalf of Michelin for the first race of the season. He was also able to complete a number of short and long runs, trying out different engine mapping settings.

Test driver Allan McNish had a mixed time. During his two days, he suffered several mechanical problems, but nevertheless managed to complete race simulation work in preparation for Melbourne. He continued to increase his mileage at the wheel of the R23, and is confident in the car's potential.

Work starts again on Monday, 17 February in Barcelona. This session will see the Team testing the new aerodynamic package which will be used during the first races of the 2003 season.
