The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team began today a two-day test session at the Paul Ricard circuit. The Team will run two cars: a R23 with Jarno Trulli and a R202 with test driver Allan McNish. Today, however, the Team ran only the R23 with Jarno Trulli.

Jarno evaluated a new spec engine which will be introduced at the Austrian Grand Prix, he also worked on a tyre development programme and performed some suspension testing.

Mike Gascoyne, Technical Director:

"Today we completed a full test programme, as always with our 'limited testing schedule'. We tested again the new spec engine to be introduced at the Austrian Grand Prix without incurring in any problems."

"This morning Jarno concentrated on tyre development for Michelin for the Austria and Monaco Grand Prix. This afternoon, he continued suspension development and electronic system testing. Tomorrow, alongside Jarno, we will run Allan McNish who will be working in the R202 on some suspension development."
