Final day of testing in Monza for the Renault F1 Team.
The Renault F1 Team today completed its three-day test programme In Monza, continuing work on preparations for the North American campaign which will start next week in Montreal with the Canadian GP.
The Renault drivers had already completed a substantial part of their programme on the first two days and had a lighter day today.
After the confirmation that he will drive for Renault once again in 2007, Giancarlo Fisichella focused on new set up changes this morning to confirm the configuration he intends to use at the Canadian GP. He then finalised his tyre choice for the coming races.
Heikki Kovalainen continued his tyre testing programme with numerous long runs this afternoon in order to confirm the data we recorded yesterday regarding tyre wear in low downforce trim.
At the end of the session, the Renault cars had covered 167 laps. Giancarlo Fisichella set the fourth-fastest lap-time in 1'23.790 while his teammate Heikki Kovalainen lapped in 1'23.940 which is the seventh-fastest lap-time of the day.
Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer:
"We had a very satisfying final day of testing with some more set up works and tyre development for the preparation for the next races. Heikki continued his tyre testing while Giancarlo also worked on brake testing this afternoon for Canada which will be very demanding in this area."
"Regarding today's announcement, we are very pleased to see Giancarlo driving with us in 2007 as we enjoy a fantastic relationship with him in the test team, and know exactly how fast he is. All in all, it's been a good day for the team -- and a nice way to round off a very productive test."
