Red Bull announced on July 6th that David Coulthard's contract has been extended to the end of the 2008 season. The Scot, who signed up with Red Bull at the end of 2004, will again be teammate to Mark Webber next year. Coulthard claimed Red Bull's only podium finish to date with third at Monaco in 2006 and has scored four points so far this season.

Red Bull's driver line up was never the subject of much speculation but sister team Toro Rosso could well have changes next season. Champ Car's Sebastian Bourdais, who has previously tested with the Italian squad, and BMW Sauber test driver Sebastian Vettel have both been linked with Toro Rosso race seats.

Silly season is yet to go into overdrive but Ralf Schumacher is widely speculated to be out of favour with Toyota, as is Christijan Albers with Spyker. Nick Heidfeld was previously rumoured to be having a hard time negotiating a new contract with BMW but on the back of some good results it now seems that it's only a matter of time before he is re-signed.
