Rain caused a shakeup in the times, with Alonso and Hamilton refusing to take a time during the session.
Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg ended up 22nd and 19th overall after a wet FP3 greeted the stars of Formula One, causing a number of the front runners to stay dry and in the garage.
The wet session allowed the talents of Daniel Ricciardo to lead the speed charts, with Williams driver and Formula One veteran Felipe Massa sitting in second.
Romain Grosjean wheeled his Lotus to the third spot on the cahrts, with Nico Hulkenberg and Kimi Raikkonen rounding out the top five.
Qualifying starts at 2 am ET, and with more rain forecast in the weather, we could see a major shakeup in the starting grid for tomorrow’s Chinese GP.
