Ralf Schumacher should be used to rain, wet roads and traffic since he spends a good part of his life on circuits that throw him all kinds of conditions, not to mention vying with 21 other drivers for position. What should have been a walk in the park ended in a fender bender for the German.
Schumacher was on his way to visit dad Rolf, in a BMW 7 Series which came complete with driver, courtesy of the organizer of the Essen Motor show. However, Ralf opted to drive and found himself colliding with a car in front of him which set a three-car pile up in motion. While he escaped unscathed, it was reported that a female driver in the car he collided with suffered minor injuries. The damage to the car was minor and a BMW spokes person confirmed: "Yes Ralf Schumacher had an accident. His car was only slightly damaged in the front. After the police made out the report, he was able to continue his journey in the damaged car."
After his 'ordeal' Ralf later met up with brother Michael and some friends in a restaurant in Kerpen for relaxation. One would think Ralf would want to steer clear of cars for the remainder of the day after what happened, but he played mechanic to his brother who took part in the Winter Cup series of the Kerpen Kart Club. Could Ralf have jinxed Michael's car? Michael ended up 13th after doing an unplanned doughnut which in some minds may have dented his perfect record.
