Ralf Schumacher has been penalized for the first corner incident at Hockenheim today and will be demoted ten places on the grid at the next race in Hungary.

Schumacher was deemed by stewards to have caused the accident that put him, Rubens Barrichello and Kimi Raikkonen out of the race and subsequently Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Ralph Firman in the resulting confusion.

The stewards decided Ralf had moved over the track with no regard to other drivers and made contact with the Ferrari of Barrichello, which in turn hit Raikkonen's McLaren.

"The stewards of the meeting impose on the driver of car number 4 (R. Schumacher) a drop of 10 grid positions at the driver's next race, in accordance with article 55 of the 2003 FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations. The competitor is reminded of its right to appeal." Said a statement from the FIA.
