According to BMW motorsport director Gerhard Berger, Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya are the best driver pairing in Formula One. Despite recent rumours that Williams favours Montoya, Berger said the team was very happy with Ralf and both he and the Colombian have a good chance of becoming world champion.

"For me, Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya are the best driver duo in the Formula 1 world," Berger told the BMW website. "We're very content with the performance by Ralf Schumacher. He fits very well to our team."

While the Ferrari pairing of Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello proved unbeatable this season, Montoya and Ralf were the best of the rest, coming third and fourth in the Driver's standings respectively. Providing Williams can give the pair a competitive car, Berger believes both of them could be in the running for the title.

"If the overall result comes only close to the high expectations of the people in charge for the team, Ralf and Juan Pablo will have all possibilities," he said. "If the BMW WilliamsF1 Team provides proper technology to the team, we believe that Ralf has good chances on the world championship title. Of course, this also applies to Pablo Montoya."
