MINARDI GAIN TWO CYLINDERS [Thu., Oct.9, 1997, 1:40PM EDT]
Minardi Scuderia Italia confirmed today that they have done a deal with Ford-Cosworth to receive modified customer V10 engines, similar to that of Tyrrell's, beginning next year.
The change in powerplants from V8 to V10 should mark a big improvement in the Minardi car's straightline speed -- which has been considered 'laughable' in recent seasons.
Minardi had secured powerful Mugen-Honda V10 engines for use in 1995, but lost them in a dispute with Flavio Briatore and Ligier. ___________________________________________ Copyright 1997 John E. Klender. All rights reserved.
