The Prost Grand Prix team completed today an intensive test session (February 7h to 14th) at the Estoril circuit in Portugal. Official drivers Jean Alesi and Gaston Mazzacane and test driver Pedro De La Rosa shared driving duties on two AP04 chassis.

The session was very productive : the two cars covered a total of km.2,200, with both Jean and Gaston successfully completing two race distances. The technical programme included extensive work on tyres and set-ups in preparation for the first Grand Prix in Melbourne and relevant progress was made on the performance. The feedback from each one of the drivers was extremely positive and consistent. The team departed from the modified Estoril circuit having set a new unofficial track record of 1'18''929.

The team rebased tonight to the Prost Grand Prix where preparation work for the opening race of the season will continue. The shakedown of the AP04, before leaving for Australia, will be done by Pedro de La Rosa ,on February 21st at Lurcy Levis, France.

Prost Grand Prix will reveal its 2001 livery at the Melbourne circuit, on Wednesday February 28th, at 12:00 (Local time).
