The weekend of Nurburgring, sixth round of the GP2 Series 2013, ended with yet another positive result for Stefano Coletti despite he could not score points in the Sprint Race.
The Monegasque, third yesterday at the end of a stunning recover, ended 20th today after being forced to an unscheduled pit-stop during lap thirteen.
As regarding the drivers fighting for the title, Felipe Nasr (Carlin) finished fourth, while Sam Bird (Russian Time) was eighth which allows Coletti to keep a wide margin thanks also to the podium scored in the Feature Race. The victory went to John Lancaster (Hilmer Motorsport), followed by James Calado (ART Grand Prix) and Fabio Leimer (Racing Engineering). Coletti is the classification leader with 135 points, followed by Nasr at 108 and Bird at 90.
Stefano Coletti: "Unfortunately, the best set of mediums we had for the Sprint Race was several laps old therefore I knew things would have not been easy. I defended myself as long as I could but then degradation kicked in and the pit-stop was unavoidable. I am happy anyway on my weekend: I was back on the podium and strenghtened by five points my classification lead".
The next round of the GP2 Series will be next 28 July in Budapest.
