Williams test driver Antonio Pizzonia displaced the McLarens from the top of the times at Barcelona today, clocking a fastest of 1:16.961 over 60 laps. Pizzonia worked on tyres while fellow Williams tester Marc Gene was fourth fastest, the Spaniard continuing a programme on the new BMW engine.

"A useful day in Spain as we continued our systematic testing of new development parts and ran a tyre test program with Michelin," said test team manager Tim Newton. "Marc put more miles on the new engine and with Antonio we focused on tyre testing and intermediate components for development."

The McLaren duo of tester Alex Wurz and David Coulthard were second and third fastest respectively. Toyota concluded its three day test with Stéphane Sarrazin and Ryan Briscoe fifth and sixth. Sarrazin worked on tyres with the interim TF102B chassis while Briscoe continued with aerodynamics.

BAR test driver Anthony Davidson finished up the team's testing schedule by spinning off into the barriers at the close of the session. He was unhurt and aside from the mechanical problem-induced spin, had a reliable session.

Elsewhere, Renault concluded a three day test at Silverstone with Oliver Gavin behind the wheel. Gavin worked on electronics and tyres and ran an extensive programme despite engine gremlins. Technical director Mike Gascoyne was happy with the results.

Ferrari concluded testing at Jerez, Luciano Burti working on Bridgestone tyres, while Luca Badoer finished off at Mugello before heading to Fiorano tomorrow. Sauber was also at Mugello, Nick Heidfeld taking over duties form Felipe Massa and continuing the aerodynamic work the team were focusing on.
