It appears that Antonio Pizzonia's position at Jaguar is safe until the end of the season, despite the turmoil of the last week or so. Pizzonia never even got to prove himself in today's Spanish Grand Prix after McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen crashed into the rear of the Jaguar on the starting grid. Pizzonia suffered a recurrence of the launch control problem he encountered at Imola and Raikkonen had nowhere to go but into the back of him.

Jaguar had been made an offer by McLaren for the services of test driver Alex Wurz but it looks like the team will make the effort to stick with Pizzonia: "I'm OK now until the end of this season," said the Brazilian. "They told me yesterday (Saturday) and basically they said that they had made a mistake and let's carry on and make progress."

Jaguar has been criticized for its handling of the situation, in that it was unfair to Pizzonia to make it public his position was under review and that the team wasn't giving him enough time or support. Pizzonia, however, is not on the receiving end of his marching orders just yet.

"We now have three days of testing next week at Paul Ricard in Southern France and we'll concentrate on tyres, mechanical work and launch control again," said Pitchforth after today's race. "Both Mark and Antonio will share testing duties and given the pace of the Jaguar today, I'm sure both drivers will be raring to take to the A1-Ring in two weeks time."
