Effective 1 January 1995, FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) has appointed Peter Wright, formerly of Team Lotus, to be its Technical Adviser.

Wright worked at Group Lotus as a Technical Director and later as a Managing Director, where his duties included overseeing the development of active suspension, among other projects, for Lotus road cars. After he moved to the position of Director of Research and Development at team Lotus, he was responsible for the first ground effect F1 car, and also the first active suspension F1 car.
