The stewards have issued penalties for incidents that took place during the Canadian Grand Prix.

With the checkered flag in sight, Force India’s Sergio Perez and Williams’ Felipe Massa battled hard for fourth position on the final lap of the Canadian Grand Prix, but in an instant, it all went awry.

Contact was made and the two cars were sent careening towards the tire barriers in turn one, both making heavy impacts. As they spun out of control across the track, the paid almost took Sebastian Vettel with them.

Both drivers were able to walk away from the scary wreck, but were alsoe transported to a local hospital for precautionary reasons. They have since been discharged.

After reviewing the incident, the stewards have decided that Perez should be held responsible. Therefore, he faces a five-place grid penalty in the upcoming Austrian Grand Prix. Max Chilton was issued the same punishment for the incident on the opening lap that took himself and teammate Jules Bianchi out of the race.
