No further action over de Villota test crash

The former Marussia Formula 1 team will face no action following the conclusion of an investigation into the accident of Maria de Villota.

De Villota crashed against a team truck while testing at the Duxford Airfield in 2012.

She lost an eye as a result of the crash and died a year later at the age of 33 as a result of the neurological injuries suffered.

The Health and Safety Executive investigated the circumstances of the accident and has decided that no further action was needed.

"The investigation is now complete and no enforcement action is being taken," a spokesperson told the BBC.

"Both the company [Manor Grand Prix Racing] and the DP's [deceased person's] family have been informed."

Marussia continues to race in Formula 1 under the Manor Racing name.
