Renault's Fernando Alonso insists that there was no euphoria for him after his weekend in Malaysia and he expects it to be very difficult to gain another podium finish this season. Alosno scored his first pole position, the youngest driver ever to do so, and his first podium finish with third at Sepang but says his expectations remain the same as before.

"It's going to be very difficult, almost impossible, to get on the podium again this season," he told Spanish radio. "Our expectations remain as they were at the start of the season. We just have to continue working as we have been doing, whether the results are good or bad."

"There was no euphoria as far as I was concerned. The third place came about because the circuit suited us well throughout the weekend."

Renault director Patrick Faure said the first two races of 2003 had been unbelievable for the team but he too was not expecting anything more than yet more hard work to come.

The team is working on getting more power from its engines and although Ferrari and McLaren may be out of reach, Williams is being targeted as the team to beat.
