Juan Pablo Montoya may have to miss next weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix after he injured his shoulder while playing tennis. The Colombian, who was working with his trainer on Saturday, fell and landed on his shoulder, suffering a hairline fracture and some tissue damage according to a McLaren spokeswoman.

She said it was a minor injury and Montoya will undergo further scans in the next few days. A decision will be taken on Thursday whether Montoya will be fit to race in Bahrain. If he cannot, it is likely team test driver Pedro de la Rosa will take his place.

De la Rosa has been undertaking third driver duties in the Friday practice session of race weekends and is used to the car, whereas McLaren's other tester, Alex Wurz, is too tall to be comfortable in the MP4-20 cockpit.

The team is thought to be working on a car to accommodate Wurz so he can take over de la Rosa's Friday work in Bahrain if necessary. However, a decision on the driver line up, should Montoya not be fit to race, won't be made until later next week.
