Renault test driver Franck Montagny is looking forward to his first Grand Prix weekend in France, where he will take up race test duties for the first time. Montagny will replace usual tester Allan McNish for the French event and has been at Renault's base in Enstone, UK, for a seat fitting.

"This is a fantastic opportunity, and I think it shows the confidence the team have in me," said Montagny. "There is one other advantage: I have already raced on the modified circuit at Magny-Cours, but to be honest, the alterations don't change too much in driving terms."

The Frenchman is aware that he will be in the spotlight but he feels he is up to the challenge: "This is a big week for me," he added. "But it is also just a first test in the new car. There will be some pressure, but I am confident I can do a good job."

Montagny currently races in the Nissan World Series for Garbord Competition and is leading the championship after a string of impressive performances. Teammate Heikki Kovalainen is a member of the Renault Driver Development Programme, as was Montagny until he moved on to a testing role.
