NEW DEVELOPMENTS - AND NOT JUST ON THE TECHNICAL FRONT - AT THE SILVERSTONE TESTS The Fondmetal Minardi Ford Team has started testing at Silverstone not just with new technical solutions, but with new human resources. As part of the ongoing drive to strengthen the Team, Minardi has just been joined by Rupert Buchsteiner, a 33 year old Austrian, who has acquired considerable experience in racing thanks to 8 years spent with RSM (Rennsportmanagement) Marko in Graz as team manager and technical director. The newly-recruited race engineer joined the test team yesterday on the Silverstone circuit to follow Shinji Nakano who has been tasked, over these first two days, to carry out the car development work in preparation for the British Grand Prix scheduled for next week. It is the first time, this year, that the M198 has been on the track at Silverstone, which is very much a "home" circuit for most of the team who are extremely familiar with it. On a relatively cool and showery day, Shinji clocked up the laps only in the morning: most of the afternoon was taken up with the replacement of the waiward engine on the M198 by the Ford Cosworth engineers. Esteban Tuero will be at the wheel on Friday, the final day of testing.
