After a busy week of testing Jerez was the only circuit in use on Friday, the last day of the scheduled programmes. Eight drivers from four teams were on track and it was the McLaren pair of tester Pedro de la Rosa and Kimi Raikkonen at the top, first and second respectively. De la Rosa's best time was 1:15.650 and Raikkonen was eight tenths down.

Work focused on the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix and both drivers worked on tyres, set up and aerodynamics. "We have done a lot of work considering we were only running two days when I did almost 1200 km and experienced no major problem," said de la Rosa.

Renault's Fernando Alonso was third fastest and the team also had test driver Franck Montagny at work. Their programme was much the same as McLaren's, although Montgany suffered mechanical problems and was at the bottom of the times in eighth.

David Coulthard led the two Red Bull cars on track and was fourth quickest, while Tonio Liuzzi was seventh. Liuzzi will be presumably be in the race seat again for the Spanish GP -- the team has yet to say otherwise -- and Christian Klien will undertake third driver duties.

Toyota test driver Olivier Panis clocked fifth overall and Ralf Schumacher was one behind in sixth. Panis worked on tyres, shock absorber evaluation and tried out new front and rear wings. Schumacher focused on short, low fuel qualifying runs and tyre evaluation.

"It was a reasonable test," said Schumacher. "We had a couple of technical issues but we still got through some important work for Barcelona and we should be okay."
