Vodafone McLaren Mercedes are voted favourite Formula 1 Team
World Champion Lewis Hamilton most popular Formula 1 Driver
Vodafone McLaren Mercedes is the world's favourite Formula 1 team, 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton is the most popular driver. This is the result of a survey among the readers of the renowned specialist magazine"F1 Racing" in which more than 70.000 readers from 160 countries took part in. The outcome of the survey has been published in the January edition of the magazine, which appeared on 18 December 2008.
In one of the most extensive global surveys which has ever been carried out online, 29 percent which are almost one third of the readers voted for Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. Ferrari came second with 28 percent. The other teams' results were significantly lower: Williams is ranked third with six percent ahead of Renault (six percent) and BMW Sauber with five percent.
In the last "F1 Racing" survey two years ago, the McLaren Mercedes partnership had recorded 21 percent and second place; now their share of votes rose by almost 40 percent (eight percentage points) to 29 percent.
Among the drivers, World Champion and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton achieved the top position with a massive 27 percent of the vote. Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari), the 2007 World Champion ended up second with 16 percent.
