They may not be leading the way on track in Formula One, but away from it, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes have moved into first position courtesy of their impressive, fan-friendly interactive website.
Launched to co-inside with the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, McLaren have revamped their website with a view to providing fans of the sport with an unrivalled racing experience.
Complete with raw technical data including car speed, engine revs, the information is in real time format and includes coverage of the pit-to-car radio transmissions between the team and it’s two British world champion drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.
Developed by Work Club, Derek Harbinson, head of digital media at McLaren confirmed the site aims to make the McLaren brand more approachable to the public.
“We want to make sure that our digital communications match the standards we have set ourselves in everything else we do,” he said.
The site has provided fans with the chance to discuss all sessions via social media outlets such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook while devouring the various stats on offer too.
In keeping with contemporary digital requirements demanded from the general public, the team is also providing the chance for enthusiasts to follow the action on mobile phones and is already busy developing its first gaming application.
