David Coulthard thinks that although Ferrari and Williams have an edge in performance, McLaren are getting results in the races. The Scot won in Monaco and was on the podium in Canada and is hoping for another good result in this weekend's European Grand Prix. Tyres will play a major part and Coulthard said tyre testing is a major consideration.

"Each week we're testing and developing the tyres to try and see if we can get something better for the next weekend," he said. "It's something that Michelin can offer that Bridgestone can't, because they produce the tyres in Europe."

"Unfortunately we didn't find anything extra in Jerez, so the tyres we'll use this weekend are something we've experienced before, but that isn't such a bad thing. Ferrari and Williams have shown they have a performance advantage, but as we've shown recently we can get results in races."

Coulthard is now fourth in the Driver's standing after his recent placings, only one point behind the Williams duo of Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher, who share second place. But Michael Schumacher has a commanding lead of seventy points and seems unlikely to be beaten this season.
