Team McLaren has decided not to appeal this week's FIA ruling stripping it of the 10 Constructors' Championship earned by Mika Hakkinen at the Austrian Grand Prix.

The team issued a press release, however, indicating its disagreement with the FIA decision. It pointed out that FIA had agreed that the car and the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) had been closely examined, and declared fully legal.

"After [this] decision, we now consider the matter closed," said Martin Whitmarsh, the team's managing director. "We will to concentrate on winning the Formula 1 World Championships and this weekend's event at Hockenheim."

Mika Hakkinen, who was cleared by the FIA, concurred. "Obviously, I am pleased to have my victory in Austria confirmed,", said Hakkinen. "Of course, as part of the team, I am disappointed that we have lost the Constructors' points. But I am determined that, with David, we will help the team win this year's Constructors' title."
